The hiking route around Kaunas follows the bends of the Nemunas River, passing through green parks and viewpoints where the city’s history blends with nature and peaceful landscapes.
The hike begins near Kaunas at the Lampėdžiai quarry, where there is an excellent recreation area with a beach. From there, you will cross the bridge over the Nevėžis River and, after just a few kilometres, reach the very heart of Kaunas — the Old Town, where cobbled streets, church towers, and the historic atmosphere completely replace the silence of nature for a while. Here, you will be able to experience the atmosphere of Kaunas Old Town and discover the place where the Neris River joins the Nemunas.
The trail then continues through parks and quieter neighbourhoods, where the urban environment gradually fades and nature once again takes over. In the final section, the route follows the bends of the Nemunas River back to Lampėdžiai, allowing you to relax by the water after completing the full loop and to feel how diverse a single day on the trail can be.
