Usma Lake, wrapped in the vast forests of Kurzeme, invites you into a true nature experience to discover untouched forest trails, navigate dense woodland, and enjoy surprises along every distance — whether it is an easy walk or a demanding kilometer challenge.
A hike where we have created an excellent balance between easy-to-walk trails and the dense forest terrain characteristic of the “Latvijas izaicinajums”.
After parking your car, you will head toward a cozy small lake. On one shore there is a Latvijas valsts meži rest area, while on the other side, across the railway line, lies a small town, along which you will overcome the first obstacles.
Continuing on, solving mental puzzles, you will enter a peaceful forest where you will need to cross a small river. After overcoming this obstacle, you will look for a way out of the forest to reach the shores of Usma Lake. Be sure to bring lunch — or rather, afternoon snacks — as there are several rest areas here, all exceptionally beautiful.
After walking the trails around Usma Lake, you will reach an elegant observation tower offering views far into the distance. It is said that on a clear day you can see as far as forty kilometers.
